Iquitos has been operating for 50 years with a thermal power plant that consumes diesel, polluting the environment. For this reason it is important to replace this polluting thermal generation with a non-polluting renewable generation. The main benefits of the project will be to reduce the environmental pollution produced by the Diesel thermal power plant to zero. In addition, this plant will allow transferring up to 400 MW to the national interconnected system through the Moyobamba Iquitos transmission line.
